Will

“Will” is a 2012 British sports drama helmed by Ellen Perry, featuring performances by Damian Lewis, Jane March, and Bob Hoskins. The story begins with eleven-year-old Will Brennan, a devoted Liverpool supporter, who is enrolled in a boarding school in southern England because his father, Gareth (played by Lewis), is unable to care for him after the passing of his mother. One day, Gareth unexpectedly visits Will with two tickets to the 2005 Champions League Final in Istanbul, where Liverpool will face AC Milan. Tragically, Gareth dies before they can attend the match. Determined to honor his father’s memory, Will embarks on a journey to reach the game, making it as far as France. There, he encounters Alek, a former Yugoslavian footballer who quit playing during his nation’s civil war. Initially hesitant to get involved, Alek is moved by Will’s resolve and decides to assist him in achieving his goal. After overcoming numerous challenges, Will finally attends the match, experiencing it in a way that surpasses his wildest dreams.
