The 8-Year Engagement

Hisashi and Mai are a joyful couple in their twenties, planning to get married. However, three months before their wedding, Mai falls gravely ill. Her heart briefly stops, and she slips into a deep coma. Every day before heading to work, Hisashi visits Mai in the hospital. Uncertain if or when she will wake up, Mai’s parents suggest that Hisashi move on and find someone else, but he remains steadfast, hoping for her recovery. Miraculously, after several years, Mai starts to regain consciousness and even speaks a few words. Sadly, she has suffered brain damage and no longer remembers Hisashi.
