Within the DGSE, the General Directorate for External Security, there exists a division known as the Office of Legends (BDL). This unit is responsible for training and remotely managing the most crucial operatives of the French intelligence network: the Clandestine agents. These agents are deployed into hostile territories with the task of identifying potential informants. They operate “under legend,” meaning they assume entirely fabricated identities, living in constant deception for extended periods. Our protagonist has just returned from a covert mission that lasted six years in Damascus. However, defying security protocols, he refuses to relinquish the false identity he adopted in Syria, thereby jeopardizing the entire system.
