Fawlty Towers

Fawlty Towers

“Fawlty Towers” is a British sitcom created by BBC Television, initially airing on BBC2 during 1975 and 1979, with a total of twelve episodes produced. The series was penned by John Cleese and his then-wife Connie Booth, who also took on starring roles.

The narrative unfolds in Fawlty Towers, a fictional hotel located in the coastal town of Torquay, known as the “English Riviera.” The storyline revolves around the irritable and often rude hotel owner Basil Fawlty, his domineering wife Sybil, the relatively sensible chambermaid Polly, and the inept Spanish waiter Manuel. Together, they navigate the challenges of managing the hotel amidst a series of comedic mishaps and interactions with demanding and quirky guests.

In a 2000 poll conducted by the British Film Institute, which surveyed industry experts, “Fawlty Towers” was acclaimed as the greatest British television series of all time.
