Brass Eye
“Brass Eye” is a British television series that parodies news magazine shows. It originally aired on Channel 4 with six episodes in 1997, followed by an additional episode in 2001.
The show was the brainchild of Chris Morris, who also co-wrote it alongside David Quantick, Peter Baynham, Jane Bussmann, Arthur Mathews, and Graham Linehan. Directed by Michael Cumming, it served as a follow-up to Morris’s previous satirical news programs, “On the Hour” and “The Day Today.” The series humorously critiqued how the media represents societal issues, particularly focusing on sensationalism and the creation of moral panics. The cast included Doon MacKichan, a colleague from “The Day Today,” as well as Gina McKee, Mark Heap, Simon Pegg, Julia Davis, and Kevin Eldon.
