In Sweden, numerous refugee children who have escaped severe trauma with their families are suffering from ‘uppgivenhetssyndrom,’ also known as Resignation Syndrome. Confronted with the threat of deportation, these children retreat into a coma-like condition, becoming unresponsive to the world around them for extended periods, sometimes lasting months or even years.
