In a quaint town, Gao-bing works diligently at a bakery owned by Mr. Chiu, who is more passionate about his Rock ‘n’ Roll band than the business. Meanwhile, the apprentice, Di, shows little interest in mastering the art of baking. As the bakery’s fortunes decline, Gao-bing is at a loss for solutions and resorts to simply working harder and baking more bread. Ping, Mr. Chiu’s daughter and Gao-bing’s girlfriend, often criticizes him for sticking to tradition and not taking bold steps to rescue the bakery. Seeking to create innovative new flavors, Ping enrolls in baking classes in the city, where she encounters Bread, an American with a captivating personality and wit. Bread is immediately smitten with Ping, and although she is committed to Gao-bing, she is enchanted by Bread’s unique baking skills. She begins to wonder if Bread might be the key to revitalizing the bakery.
