Can’t Stand Losing You: Surviving the Police
Based on the celebrated memoir by famed guitarist Andy Summers, “Can’t Stand Losing You: Surviving The Police” chronicles Summers’ journey from his beginnings in the psychedelic music scene of the 1960s, where he played with The Animals, to his serendipitous meetings with drummer Stewart Copeland and bassist Sting, which led to the creation of the new wave band, The Police. The film captures the band’s meteoric rise and their highly publicized breakup at the peak of their success in the early 1980s, all through the lens of Summers’ camera. Featuring rare archival footage, Summers’ photographs, and his unique perspective from the stage, “Can’t Stand Losing You” weaves together the past and present as the band members gear up for their first reunion in two decades for a worldwide tour in 2007.
