Zach, having to abandon his aspirations of attending art school, takes on unfulfilling jobs to provide for his sister and her child. As he contemplates his life choices, he spends his time painting, surfing, and relaxing with his close friend, Gabe. However, when Gabe’s older brother comes back for the summer, Zach unexpectedly becomes involved in a new relationship.
