Black Books
“Black Books” revolves around the irritable and quirky bookshop proprietor, Bernard Black. Bernard’s love for both alcohol and deliberate provocation adds depth and complexity to his life, as well as to that of his assistant, Manny. Manny, who is kind-hearted, bearded, and gentle, contrasts sharply with Bernard and often bears the brunt of Bernard’s relentless teasing simply for being himself. Despite this, they find purpose in each other’s company, much like their long-time friend Fran, who relies on them for diversion.
The bookshop, Black Books, is a sanctuary filled with literature, wine, and lively discussions. The only real threat to their tranquility and success is their own boundless foolishness.
