A Billion Lives
In two decades, the global population of smokers is projected to reach nearly 1.6 billion, with about 70% expressing a desire to quit. The World Health Organization of the United Nations anticipates that smoking will lead to the premature deaths of a billion individuals this century. The solutions typically suggested by healthcare professionals often prove ineffective, leaving many smokers feeling trapped. A new vapor technology emerged, offering a promising method for quitting smoking. However, it quickly faced vilification and was even prohibited in numerous countries. This has created a volatile situation involving smokers seeking to quit, government regulators, and health charities backed by the influential pharmaceutical industry. Director Aaron Biebert embarked on a journey across four continents, interviewing doctors, scientists, and others dedicated to saving a billion lives. His findings revealed significant governmental shortcomings, pervasive corruption within the public health sector, and powerful manipulation by large corporations.
