Pierre, a seventeen-year-old navigating the challenges of adolescence, is in a band, engages in sexual encounters at parties, and experiments with wearing women’s clothes and makeup in private. Following the death of his father, his mother, Aracy, has been the primary caregiver for him and his younger sister, Jacqueline, often indulging them. However, Pierre’s life takes a drastic turn when he learns that Aracy abducted him from a hospital as a newborn. In her latest film, director Anna Muylaert delves into the complexities of the mother-child bond through the perspective of a defiant son whose reality is suddenly upended.
